The Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) through the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) aims to provide assistance in protecting intellectual properties (IP) generated by the project "Support to the commercialization of 500 DOST-Generated Technologies and Strengthening the Country's Intellectual Property and Technology Portfolios (DOST 500).     3. Two (2) copies for material applies for copyright protection; and
    4. Photocopy/ Scanned copy of recent IDs of the authors

Additionally, TAPI would like to introduce the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) application assistance. PCT simplifies the filing of a patent application to different member countries in terms of effort, cost and time. Furthermore, it is a tool that reserves the applicant's right to obtain a patent in a target country. DOST-TAPI will provide technical and financial assistance for this application.

Please note that filing for a PCT application is valid within one year after local filling of the patent application. If you have inventions or researches that you want to file for patent application, we would gladly assist you and go straight to the filing of PCT application.

The DOST-500 project will be ending on June 30, 2021. Thus, we can only accommodate requests for PCT applications until April 30, 2021. The Regional Health Research and Development Consortium XI (RHRDC XI) is now accepting Health Research and Development proposals for CY 2021 funding support. This is made possible through a funding support from the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD).

Who can apply?

Researchers and faculty of RHRDC XI member institutions who have permanent or regular status. We highly encouraged young and budding researchers to grab this opportunity.

I am interested to conduct research, but I am not yet a regular or permanent personnel in our institution?

            You may opt to partner with a colleague who is a permanent or regular employee. He or she will be the primary investigator of the study. This arrangement must be made internally within your institution.

Up to how much is the funding support?

Funding support is up to Php 1,000,000. However, this will depend on your proposal. The evaluators will check if the budget is reasonable. 

What should be the duration of my proposal?

Your proposal must be feasible in 6 months – 1 year.

What is the evaluation process?

  1. RHRDC XI Executive Committee deliberation – The committee will screen the submitted proposals for prioritization. The proposal must be based on the priority areas indicated in the 2017-2022 Region XI Regional Unified Health Research Agenda (RUHRA). The 2017-2022 RUHRA may be downloaded thru this link:

What to submit: capsule proposal, endorsement from the Head of Institution address to Dr. Warlito C. Vicente, Chair, RHRDC XI, Curriculum Vitae of the proponent/s. These can be submitted either in soft or hard copy. You may download the format HERE

  1. RHRDC XI secretariat – The secretariat will check for the completeness of the proposal and check for plagiarism using Turnitin.

What to submit: soft (word file format) and 5 hard copies of the full-blown proposal)

  1. RHRDC XI Technical Review Board – the full-blown proposal of prioritized research will be reviewed by for its technical soundness by the experts in the Region.

What to submit: None. The proposal submitted to the secretariat will suffice.

  1. PCHRD External Review – (optional) this will depend of the proposal submitted.

What to submit: None. The proposal submitted to the secretariat will suffice.

  1. Research Ethics Committee Evaluation – For a proposal that involves human participants, this must be reviewed by an accredited ethics committee. Other clearances/permits that needs to be secured DEPENDING on the nature of the study are the following:
  • Bureau of Animal Industry clearance for studies involving animal subjects
  • Biosafety Clearance for studies involving genetic engineering and pathogenic organisms
  • National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Clearance for studies involving Indigenous Peoples
  • Gratuitous Permit from Biodiversity Management Bureau for studies involving collection of flora and fauna from DENR Protected Areas

Note that the applicable clearances/permits must be secured only after the approval of the technical committee.

  1. Review by PCHRD – PCHRD will be reviewing the admin part of the proposal focusing on the budget requested.

            Submission of the capsule proposal, endorsement letter from the head of institution and curriculum vitae of the proponent/s is on February 07, 2021. RHRDC XI will not be catering late and/or incomplete submissions.
