The applications for the Healthy Aging Prize for Asian Innovation is open from 13 January until 6 March 2020. The Healthy Aging Prize for Asian Innovation seeks to recognize and amplify innovative policies, programs, services, and products that address these and many other challenges facing aging societies. The objective is to highlights cutting-edge ideas that people throughout the region can emulate or access. This is headed by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), in partnership with the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE).

The prize will be awarded to policies, programs, services, and products in the following categories, with grand prize winners from each category receiving recognition at an international forum to be held in 2020

  • TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION

New technologies and techniques that encourage healthy and productive aging, that improve the way that older persons receive care, or that provide greater efficiency, safety, and/or convenience for older persons and caregivers.

  • COMMUNITY-BASED INITIATIVES

Community-based approaches – including inter-generational approaches – to keeping older adults healthy, active, engaged, and/or safe.

  • SUPPORTING SELF-RELIANCE

New ways to help older adults maintain, improve, or restore physical and mental functions, that assist them and their caregivers as those functions deteriorate, or that build resilience.

The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of Taiwan and the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) of the Philippines, through a joint cooperation, is pleased to announce the Call for Application to the MECO-TEO Sandwich Scholarship Program (SSP) for SY 2020.

The SSP is open to masters and doctoral students who would like to conduct their researches in a university or research institution in Taiwan. The priority research areas include (1) Natural Sciences, (2) Life Sciences, (3) Engineering and (4) Chemistry. The applicant is required to look for Taiwanese professor who will serve as his/her host/adviser, preferably one with an existing project being funded by the MOST. This is to facilitate the release of funding and assurance of financial support for the duration of the conduct of the research.

The applicant is required to submit the following documents:

  1. Accomplished MECO-TEC SSP Application;
  2. Proposed Host Institution and Adviser (Acceptance Letter);
  3. CV of Filipino and Taiwanese Host Professors;
  4. Certified Copy of Transcript of Records;
  5. Endorsement from two (2) Former Professors;
  6. Endorsement from Project Leader (for ASTHRDP/ERDT scholars);
  7. If employed, recommendation from President of the Agency; and
  8. Two (2) recent 2x2 ID picture.

MOST will grant a stipend of NT$20,000 for MS student and NS$30,000 for Ph.D. student per month while DOST will grant relocation assistance of Php 30,000.00, one roundtrip economy fare, and travel and accident insurance.
