Members from the Regional Health Research and Development Consortium XI (RHRDC XI) participated during the 12th Philippines National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week Celebration last August 6-9, 2018 at the CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Baguio City,. This event is an annual gathering of the country’s health research community which provides a platform for interaction, learning and collaboration of different stakeholders in health research and development.

With a theme “Research and Innovation for Equity in Health”, the celebration was hosted by the Cordillera Regional Health Research and Development Consortium (CRHRDC) together with the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD). Plenary and parallel sessions were focused primarily on technologies to improve health and equity through reinforced health research and innovation in the regions and local communities. Student and Professional Research Competition were also held.

During his keynote address, Dr. Ernesto O. Domingo, a National Scientist, mentioned the importance of three things to be a successful researcher: Collaboration amongst researchers, a nurturing environment and hardwork. He emphasized that “Productivity is not much on brilliance but simply on the ability to absorb and work hard”.

PNHRS is an integrated national framework for health research in the country which aims to promote cooperation and integration of all health research efforts and stakeholders in the country to ensure that research contributes to evidence-informed health policies and actions. By virtue of Proclamation No. 1309, second week of August was declared as the Philippine National Health Research System Week.
