Secretary Mario G. Montejo of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will be in Davao City on March 6, 2015 for the ”Science Nation Tour “ with the theme“Inspire, Engage and Convert.”

DOST XI will host the first regional leg of the “Science Nation Tour,” – a national roadshow of DOST to promote the agency’s programs, projects and services.

The tour, dubbed as “Agham na Ramdam” (Science that is felt) is a follow up to the department’s “Iba na ang Panahon (INAP): Science for Safer Communities” staged last year in the country’s 17 regions.

Turnover of Sensors

On March 6, 2015 Secretary Montejo is set to  turnover  hydro meteorological sensors to Local chief executives  in Davao Region. Fifty-six (56) Sensors were installed in the Davao Region in 2014. The Hydromet project is a component of Project NOAH or Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards which aims to use state-of-the-art weather tracking equipment to provide a better picture of the country’s surface waters.

Science Extravaganza

Secretary Montejo said that the “biggest challenge” being faced by DOST is the way Filipinos appreciate science. A “Science Extravaganza” will be conducted to show that science and technology (S&T) are vital components of the government’s effort to hoist the lives of every Juan.

DOST  will be awarding  known personalities as Science Ambassadors like Senator Bam Aquino, Senator Ralph Recto, Atty. Sara Duterte, Congressman Mariano Piamonte, Councilor Mabel Acosta, Joey Ayala, and Popong Landero during the Science and Technology Extravaganza at the gymnasium of the University of Southeastern Philippines Obrero Campus, Davao City on March 6, 2015.  The  BOB band, Manila’s hottest new band will be featured as a culminating activity of the "Science Nation Tour."

Zumbafest will ensue on March 7, 2015 at 5:00 o’clock in the morning at the People’s park, Davao City. We call on the youth and all interested individuals to be part of the event. Admission is FREE. See you there!
