Call for papers

The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) Research Office is preparing for a multi-disciplinary publication that will showcase the written works of SPMC employees and other submitting authors. The ultimate goal of the publication is to contribute to local and international efforts to produce knowledge in the general field of health care services. The publication will be subsidized by SPMC and will be freely available in limited hardcopy prints and online. The first issue of the publication is estimated to be out within late 2015.

The publication will include a broad range of topics in health care services. We welcome submissions from SPMC employees, as well as from other interested authors. We are inviting you to submit papers that fall within (but are not limited to) the following article types:

A. Clinical case reports
B. Research reports (of parallel randomized trials, observational studies, qualitative studies, meta-analyses or systematic reviews, etc.)
C. Book reviews
D. Clinical images with description

Submissions must not have been published in the past or concurrently submitted to other publications.

All publications will have a Creative Commons BY-NC license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/) by default. This means that you will retain ownership of the copyright of your work. The license automatically gives permission to others to download, print, make derivatives of, archive and distribute your work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given to you and the other authors of the work. This also ensures that your work will be available to a wide readership. After publication with us, you are still free to submit your work to academic societies for presentation in conventions or to publishers for possible publication.

We can NOT guarantee the eventual publication of your submitted paper. We will invite issue editors, who will manage the preparations for publication. All submissions (except for editorials and letters) will go through a peer-review process. Invited peer reviewers, who are experts in their own field, will go through the submissions and make content suggestions in order to ensure the quality of the articles considered for publication. The peer reviewers will also recommend deserving submissions for publication. The editors will decide to publish a submission or not, based on their own assessment of your work and on the recommendations of the peer reviewers. The editors reserve the right to withhold submissions for publication.

Once your submission is accepted for publication, it will go through copyediting and proofreading. The editors reserve the right to edit submissions for accuracy, grammar, clarity, style, punctuation, format and length. Prior to publication, we will provide you page proofs of your work for proofreading.

Submissions must follow the SPMC Research Office Prescribed Submission Formats (attached).
