As part of Regional Health Research and Development Consortium XI’s (RHRDC XI) effort on cutivating the research culture in the region, representatives from the Philippine Council of Health Research and Development (PCHRD) conducted institutional visit outside Davao City last January 19, 2016. This was spearheaded by Institutional Development Division Chief Ms. Carina Rebulanan together with Ms. Lucila Roja and Ms. Sylvia Ocon.
The PCHRD representatives were warmly welcomed by the respective president, deans and program heads of St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc.(SMCI), Tagum Doctors College, Inc. (TDCI) and Tagum Doctors Hospital, Inc (TDHI). The group first had an informative discussion with SMCI’s president Sister Ma. Jocelyn G. Gerarde, RVM, the dean and program heads. Afterwards, the group went to Tagum Doctors College Inc. and Tagum Doctors Hospital and met with its president, Ma. Emilia N. Alegre, RN together with its college deans and staffs.
Ms. Rebulanan introduced to these institutions the background of RHRDC XI, its primary objectives and past activities as well as current members. She further elaborated the intention of PCHRD to assist researchers through the different programs, activities and trainings of the council and RHRDC XI. She urge these three institutions to be part of the growing member of the consortia and be RHRDC XI’s partner in developing health-related researches that would not only contribute to the body of knowledge but also can be useful in different ways for the communities in the region.
The day successfully ended as it created ties between these institutions. It is the hope of Ms. Rebulanan together with the team to increase the number of RHRDC XI members who are not just located in Davao City but in other parts of Region 11 as well.
