To empower local researchers and encourage them to pursue studies for the welfare of humans, the Regional Health Research and Development Consortium (RHRDC) XI launched its Mentorship Program last CY 2017. Researchers, faculty members and medical doctors were encouraged to apply for the program to capacitate researchers in creating technically and ethically sound researches, with a chance for the research to be funded of up to P1,000,000.00.

On its 2nd year, five individuals coming from various RHRDC Member-institutions were the lucky recipients of this scholarship grant. Inspiration on drug discovery, formulation of pharmaceutical-related products, research on indigenous practices in their local setting are some of the topics that interest these grantees. The first module was conducted at Ateneo de Davao University on September 5 to 7, 2018 which focuses on technical writing on research proposal writing, searching for review of related literature and objectives of the study.

Dr. Lourdes R. Simpol, Director of Tropical Institute for Climate Studies (TropICS) in Ateneo de Davao University and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science, was the moderator of the 1st Module for the Mentorship Program. After an intensive writeshop, presentation of the researches from the introduction to review of the related literature was presented by the scholars to the moderator for critiquing. After the training, the scholars are expected to submit their draft output for review to their respective mentors.

The 2nd Module for the Mentorship Program is scheduled on October 8 to 10, 2018.
