2022 DOST-PCHRD- Undergraduate Thesis Grant in Natural Products

The Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2022 DOST-PCHRD- Undergraduate Thesis Grant in Natural Products.

The said program aims to sustain a research culture in natural products to increase the number of research and later on build a pool of researchers/experts specializing in the field. It supports the Tuklas Lunas program (Drug Discovery and Development Program) of the DOST-PCHRD, which aims to develop safe, effective, and affordable alternative drugs from the country’s natural resources.

The search is open to all undergraduate students of Colleges of Pharmacy, Chemistry, Nursing, and Health and Allied Sciences who have thesis proposals on natural products, specifically utilizing indigenous plants in the region. A thesis grant amounting to fifty thousand pesos (PHP 50,000.00) will be given to two (2) qualified thesis proposals per region.

Upon completion of the thesis project and submission of the required deliverables, six (6) finalists will be chosen to present their completed research during the 16^th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) week celebration in August 2023, wherein the top three (3) winners will be selected. Cash prizes include PHP 30,000.00 for the first prize winner, PHP 22,000.00 for the second prize winner and PHP 15,000.00 for the third prize winner.

The deadline for submission of the documentary requirements to the consortium is on or before May 31, 2022.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR 2022 FUNDING

The Regional Health Research and Development Consortium XI (RHRDC XI) is now accepting Health Research and Development proposals for CY 2022 funding support. This is made possible through funding support from the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD). The proposal must be based on the priority areas indicated in the 2017-2022 Region XI Regional Unified Health Research Agenda (RUHRA). Who can apply?

Researchers and faculty of RHRDC XI member institutions who have permanent or regular status. We highly encouraged young and budding researchers to grab this opportunity.

I am interested in conducting research, but I am not yet a regular or permanent personnel in our institution?

You may opt to partner with a colleague who is a permanent or regular employee. He or she will be the primary investigator of the study. This arrangement must be made internally within your institution.

How much is the funding support?

Funding support is up to Php 1,000,000. However, this will depend on your proposal. The evaluators will check if the budget is reasonable.

What should be the duration of my proposal?

Your proposal must be feasible in 6 months – 1 year.

When is the submission?

Submission of the capsule proposal, endorsement letter from the head of institution and curriculum vitae of the proponent/s is on February 11, 2022. RHRDC XI will not be catering late and/or incomplete submissions.
