The Regional Health Research and Development Consortium (RHRDC XI) conducted the first module of its 1st batch of scholars for its mentorship program last June 28-30, 2017 at Villa Margarita Hotel, Davao City. A total of seven scholars underwent the 3-day intensive training as part of the consortium’s aim in empowering the local researchers in the region to encourage them to pursue health research and be the next expert in their respective field.
The first module focused on the technical writing wherein Dr. Adrian M. Tamayo from University of Mindanao gave the in-depth understanding and techniques of writing a proposal. Valuable topics such as the research process, elements of a research proposal, research proposal writing, searching for related literatures and writing references were discussed. Afterwards, the scholars were given time to draft their respective proposals which they presented on the 3rd day. Some of the mentors of the scholars, Dr. Bernadeth Gerodias and Dr. Noreen Fundador were also present during the presentation to give initial comments and recommendations.
After the training, the scholars are required to submit their draft output to their respective mentors. The 2nd module will commence on August 7-9, 2017 wherein the focus will be about quantitative research methodology and statistical analysis.
